| Why do we ream scope rings? All manufactured products are made to + or - tolerances, rifles, bases and rings are not straight and parallel when installed! At The Gun Trader we install your bases and rings, we then use parallel gauges to align the rings and use a special double cut reamer to cut the rings on the rifle in the position the scope will rest in. In doing this we allow the scope to be mounted without any bending stress on the scope tube.
Torque the action screws? To be accurate the action cannot move in the stock, (this is why we steelbed rifles). Setting the action screw with a torque wrench provides even bedding pressure, for better accuracy. Lap the barrel crown? To remove the microscopic burrs on the crown.
